What to Expect:
Writing Santa and the Sled Dogs has been one of the greatest achievements of my life — so far!
It brings me immense joy to be able to share the process with others, young and old.
Which is why I am happy to offer Author Visits to those who want to learn more about the journey I’ve been on.
My visits focus not only on the creative writing aspect, but are also heavily focused on living with Alaskan Malamutes, running and working with these beautiful (but very stubborn!) creatures, and how writing about things you KNOW about, is the best way to get your story published.
Depending on your venue, my visit features a very engaging slideshow, my ACTUAL dogsled for students to sit in and check out, writing prompt pages, coloring pages, books for purchase and plenty of time for questions.
Where We Are:
Moonglow Acres is located in the northern Adirondack mountains, but I am willing and able to travel all over the country!
For Author Visits within an hour (one-way) there is no charge to have me come talk to your audience.
Beyond an hour there is a travel fee.
Any air travel would need to be covered, alongside of lodging, by the visit host.

Not at all! Santa and the Sled Dogs IS a children’s book, but the story is uplifting and meant for children from 1-99. Whenever I talk about writing a children’s book, people of all ages usually say “oh… I’ve ALWAYS wanted to do that!”
I like to think that after they hear more about the writing process they will go home and polish their own manuscript! -
This is actually something I ask MYSELF all the time!
Of course the book about Santa is great for the Holiday season - naturally. But most of the story is about our lifestyle, working with sled dogs at ALL times of the year.
Plus, I’m more available during the ‘off season’! Not unlike Santa… -
My husband Jeramie is the ‘musher’. And it’s more of a recreational title. The dogs listen best to him and even he, at times, can’t get them from tangling up in a particularly enticing pine tree (with a chipmunk egging them on!).
Jeramie has been running Malamutes for over 15 years, usually two at a time, and hoping to expand to a bigger team.
We have 5 DOGSLEDS! And two dogs, at the moment ;) -
I’m very flexible! Primarily I visit libraries, schools and local stores.
I’m also happy to visit community or social centers, holiday markets and outdoor festivals where the “Sled Dog” lifestyle fits right in. -
We have several creatures at Moonglow Acres that are pricey to feed, so yes.
Fees vary depending on the type of event, distance and what sort of experience you would like.
That being said, I’m a believer in supporting local community and I’m always happy to work with interested parties and find a mutually agreed upon number. -
Perhaps!
At the moment our dogs are not certified in the way we want them to be to visit schools, libraries etc. But that will be changing in the near future! We have plush sled dogs that fill in, in the meantime! -
My husband and I own 5 DOG SLEDS at the moment. Most are in need of some repair, but we have a beautiful ‘show sled’ that is too stiff for the trail, but PERFECT for people to sit in and snap photos of.
I usually bring the dog sled to my my author events, though it is big and clunky. We can discuss this further when you book for sure! -
Absolutely! And I’m thrilled to sign them personally <3
I do offer a discounted rate if the venue (typically a school) orders 100 or more books to distribute.
We can discuss this more!
